Lactation Brownie Boobie Bites
Whether you know a breastfeeding or pumping mom or you are one, these lactation brownie boobie bites are a delicious way to increase breastmilk supply.
Made with a regular box of store-bought brownie mix plus important galactagogues, this lactation brownie recipe is super easy to make in about 2 steps and comes in perfect bite-sized proportions!
These are great to make to jumpstart your own supply or as a gift to a new mom! They are also perfect to keep as part of your breastfeeding station. The small size makes them easy to eat with one hand while you’re nursing your little one!

I preface this post that I didn’t make these for me! While I’m still nursing Remy only twice a day, my pumping days are long over and I’m no longer concerned with supply. I have a dear friend who is a new mom and I thought these warm lactation brownie boobie bites would make a great gift when I go visit them!
(Update October 2020: I have made this at least twice a month with my newest baby girl, Liliana!)
However, when I did eat these during my pumping days, I noticed about a 1-2 oz increase in my daily output. I also maximized each pump session with these amazing tips and fixed my slacker boob! I even noticed a difference when collecting let-downs with my silicone breast pump. Every precious drop counts when you’re a breastfeeding or pumping mom!
Thankfully, I had such a good supply that I was able not only to feed and provide for Remy and now Lily (still going, in fact), but I’ve also been able to support other moms and provide breastmilk for their babies. In fact, I have donated over 2000 oz 6,000 oz between my two kids!

Why these lactation brownies are so simple to make
These lactation brownie boobie bites are so simple to make because the main brownie part is from a box of store-bought brownie mix! Then all you need to do is add in some vital galactogogues (see below), pour the mix into the muffin tin, and pop them in the oven! Most of the ingredients are found at your neighborhood grocery store, but you may have to search your local health food store for the Brewer’s yeast or buy it online.

What are galactogogues?
Galactogogues are simply substances that increase milk supply. These can be foods, herbs, or drugs. They’re important to include in a breastfeeding or pumping mom’s diet to maintain a healthy breastmilk supply. These brownies include many of these galactogogues in one delicious dessert:
Coconut milk – helps with maintaining hydration. Since breastmilk is 80% water, it is very important to be well-hydrated. Coconut milk and water are great ways to do this. Make sure to get the coconut from the dairy section of the grocery store and not the one you find in the can.
Oats – may be due to increasing iron stores or lowering cholesterol. The mechanism behind oats increasing milk supply is not well known, but there is a lot of anecdotal experience. When I was pumping, I used to eat a bowl of oatmeal made with coconut milk and Brewer’s yeast. I could tell a little bit of difference in my milk output when I ate the oatmeal vs. not eating the oatmeal.
Brewer’s Yeast – again, the mechanism for boosting milk supply isn’t well known. It is known as a super food and is chock-full of proteins, vitamins, and minerals to support a healthy milk supply for breastfeeding or pumping moms.
Flaxseed – can increase breastmilk production since it contains phytoestrogens. Flaxseed also has important fatty acids.

Can I Freeze Lactation Brownie Boobie Bites?
Absolutely! Not only are these boobie bites super simple to make, but you can also make a whole bunch and freeze some for later! That way, you can always have emergency lactation brownies on hand whenever you need a boost without constantly making them. Because….you’re a new mom and who has time for that? Plus, these are a great alternative to lactation cookies to satisfy your sweet tooth.
To freeze, simply bake as directed. Once done, cool the boobie bites on a cooling rack. Then pack as many as you desire in a freezer bag. Once you’re ready to eat one (or ten), take them out to thaw, then serve. You can even microwave them for 10-15 seconds to make the chocolate chips gooey and yummy!

I loved making these lactation brownie boobie bites all the time because they are so easy AND they are just scrumptious. Even better, you can’t taste the Brewer’s yeast like you can if you were to make a lactation smoothie or added it to oatmeal. Let me know if you tried these lactation brownie boobie bites and if they worked for you! Happy lactating!

Can I make this recipe without the flaxseed? My mom and her sister are both very allergic (they’re gums and stomach bleeds) so I am a little scared to try it.
Yes! The flax seed is just an “extra” ingredient to help boost supply! You won’t notice any difference without it!
Love this recipe! Would it work with a muffin or cookie mix ?
I highly recommend these brownies! I noticed an increase in my supply and the taste is good. I’ve made cookies before, but these provided me with a noticeable supply boost.
You are doing amazing work! Thanks for sharing your wonderful posts ????. I started on just Lactation brownie and noticed minimal improvement in milk supply. So I started Domperidone (Motilium) 3x10mg three times a day. (So glad I found “DOMBF365” ❤️ in Google and get the reliable source) I got great results. Now I take domperidone and your tasty Lactation brownie. This is a great combination. Love your recipes!
How many or often do you eat them?
Let me start this review by saying I hate oatmeal and flax seeds and brewers yeast. That being a said I’ve been looking for something to help me increase my milk supply. These brownies were not the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted but most definitely not the worst I’ve ever tasted. Something I definitely would continue to eat and make again. So thank you for the great recipe
Hi Kaityln, I totally agree with you! Before I made these brownies, it was a struggle getting oatmeal down that had flax seed and Brewer’s yeast mixed in. But these brownies made it a little more tolerable hehe. Thank you for reading!
Quick question,
How long can you freeze these for? I want to make some before baby gets here????
Hi Andrea! I’m so sorry in the delay in responding. Congratulations on your baby! I haven’t tried freezing these boobie brownie bites yet, but I’ve seen that brownies made from a mix can be stored in a freezer for 3 months. If I try it out, I’ll be sure to update you! 🙂
I’ve made this countless times and I love this recipe. The instructions are super easy to follow. The recipe alone is so delicious. I highly recommend this way of making lactation brownies.!!
These look great…can’t wait to try them! Did you use a mini muffin or regular sized muffin tin for these? Thanks!
Hi Amy! Thank you for reading! I used a mini muffin tin to make these, but you can use a regular muffin tin – you would just have to add some baking time until an inserted toothpick comes out clean! I hope that helps 🙂
Love these and they really are delicious. I tried the lactation cookie recipe from another site and they were dense and hard. Also I didnt have coconut milk so I added coconut oil and they turned out just fine. Making them again today and I’m going to do a double batch.
Hi Lori! Thank you so much for trying these out! It’s great to know that coconut oil also worked. I’m glad these were helpful! 🙂
Can you sub almond milk for the coconut milk?
Hi Kristen, so sorry for the delay in responding! Baby number 2 has been taking so much energy :). You can certainly substitute almond milk, but it is thought that coconut milk may be more hydrating to help with milk production. If you do sub almond milk, please share your experience!
How many should you eat per day?
Hi Marisol, thank you for reading and commenting! I usually ate one after each pump session. However, you can start with however many you like and see how your milk production does from there. I will caution to limit the amount, though, especially if you have gestational diabetes.
What if I’m mainly pumping every two hours?
Can I sub coconut oil for coconut milk
These look so good! I wish I had had this recipe back when I was pumping.
Yum! I’m saving these for the next time around! I’ve lived off baked lactation oatmeal this time around!
these look great! my baby days are over for now but Id eat these anyway lol
These look great and I love that these treats are super simple to make. When I was nursing and looking for foods to increase supply, all the treats seemed so complicated to make. As a tired nursing mom, the last thing you want to do is spend hours in the kitchen. Thank you for sharing.
I will definitely have to try these for future children. They look really good! Thanks for sharing.
These look amazing!!! I’ve made lactation cookies but not brownies! Definitely giving these a try!
wow! these look soooo goooood! My pumping days are over but I just might make them anyway LOL. I had so much trouble with my supply when I was pumping. Wish I had come across this earlier. Oh well! will save it for the next one! awesome share 🙂
These look amazing. I might have to make these here soon! I’m all about helping out my supply! Thanks so much!
